Transition Teamwork

Any Veteran that has recently prepared for transition knows it takes time, expertise, leadership, and sometimes the generosity of many organizations and individuals to help you successfully transition.  Much like our military careers, we can't do it alone.

One of these many organizations is the highlight of this blog post.  

Sue Farrell owns and operates a non-profit organization called "Boots To Suits" which is located in Richmond, VA.  She takes donated business attire and tailors them to fit Veterans who are within 60 days of transitioning out of the military.

How cool is that?!

A few months ago, I reached out to Sue to see if there were any events coming up that I could partner with her on, and coincidentally she was getting ready for the annual Dominion Energy Charity Classic scheduled for 14 October 2019.   

As part of the PGA Tour, a Military Resource Day was included, and 40 Veterans were invited to get outfitted for new business attire and meet with representatives from the Virginia Department of Veteran Services to discuss resources available to them as they prepare for transition.

Thirty-six Veterans attended the event and each one received their business attire, lunch, military transition resources and this year, a complimentary headshot.

I would like to especially thank my Veteran Sister, Kim, who assisted me with the processing of our "models."  With her help we knocked out all 36 in less than five hours. 

It truly took a team!
